Calavera > This display of cheesy guitars on Olvera Street kind of looked like a guitar tree...just add water
Calavera > I've gotten a number of comments asking..."What is this?" While it has a bit of a prehistoric/insect feels to it...its a Borage flower. Note the following comments from Wikipedia...Borage (Borago officinalis L.), also known as "starflower" (گل گاوزبان in Persian) is an annual herb originating in Syria, but naturalized throughout the Mediterranean region, as well as most of Europe, North Africa, and Iran. It grows to a height of 60-100 cm (2-3 feet), and is bristly or hairy all over the stems and leaves; the leaves are alternate, simple, and 5-15 cm (2-6 in) long. The flowers are small and normally blue, although they may be pink or white, with five narrow, triangular-pointed petals. It has an indeterminate growth habit allowing it to produce many seeds which may lead to prolific spreading. In milder climates, borage will bloom continuously for most of the year.

Calavera > This was an interesting shot of an apt. building in Montreal...I was drawn to the old world look of the apts and the mural at the 1st floor.
Calavera > Back to the archives today, I've been trying to organize my photos on Elements, with an eye toward revamping the galleries here. It'll be a gradula process. I caught this Sonoma CA corridor early one morning. The sun just brought out the rich colors. On one level, it kind of made me think about a path to heaven.
Calavera > Until I started working this shot in Elements, I did not notice how much the peacock's head reminded me of Mr. Burns on the Simpsons. My apologies for not posting and commenting more frequently, but I've been tied up making the rounds of local gardens and arboretums for the spring flowers...plus, I just landed a copy of the full blown Adobe Creative suites...it's pretty intimidating.
Calavera > Road trip to San Diego today, so lots of processing. Also found out I'll have my first one man show (I'll believe it when I see it)...the move from simple printing and framing to gallery level is intimidating and $$$$$...but what the hey. So, this is an oldie from the Cotswalds in England...I could live there in a heartbeat...just love the old doors, gardens, and wysteria

I tried to convey the sadness that such a beautiful beast must have in carrying "tourists" around all day...At the same time, his handlers actually seemed sadder...but I wasn't fast enough to capture this. The elephant's look...seemed to convey a sentiment that we all feel..."it could be worse"...This elephant was the first and last thing I saw at the Fair...it seemed as if he didn't want to be there.
