The Calavera is mostly seen at Day of the Dead celebrations and is supposed to be an afterlife representation of what a person enjoyed doing in life. I've always found that concept to be both touching and a little subversive at the same time. Obviously, the picture to the left is a Calavera of me (Yeah the white hair is a little close to the truth). For the life of me, I can't figure out what is the motivation for my taking a picture. I think I've narrowed it down to changes in color pattern, light, perspective...after 34 years in insurance, it's been a real blessing to be able to indulge my creative side a little bit. People have often said to me that I seem to see things differently...OK...I think I can deal with that now. I hope you enjoy the pictures and feel free to offer your comments/perspective.
