Your Bio

The Calavera is mostly seen at Day of the Dead celebrations and is supposed to be an afterlife representation of what a person enjoyed doing in life. I've always found that concept to be both touching and a little subversive at the same time. Obviously, the picture to the left is a Calavera of me (Yeah the white hair is a little close to the truth). For the life of me, I can't figure out what is the motivation for my taking a picture. I think I've narrowed it down to changes in color pattern, light, perspective...after 34 years in insurance, it's been a real blessing to be able to indulge my creative side a little bit. People have often said to me that I seem to see things differently...OK...I think I can deal with that now. I hope you enjoy the pictures and feel free to offer your comments/perspective. Thanks, Bob Olsen

CA Coast trip : This trip involved a mini-family reunion...my son at SFSU and my neice at a Google conference in San Jose...well, my son had the option of hanging w/Dad or going to the Coachella festival with 4 girls...that''s a no brainer...Anyway we had a lot of fun driving around the Bay area with my Niece who has never been in NO CA

My Favorites : This was my first attempt at putting together my favorite shots. There's no particular order nor any rationale for picking the picture...sometimes the light was just right...the colors jumped out at me...sometimes playing around in Photoshop gave me a different feel for the shot. I'd like to get some feedback from photographers who know what went into capturing a good shot. Thanks....Bob Olsen
